The Canadian Evaluation Society- Nova Scotia Chapter invites you to attend two half-day workshops on

Logic Models and Qualitative Evaluation Design & Analysis.

Logic Models

By the end of the workshop, participants will understand how logic models are used when developing frameworks for program and policy evaluation. This workshop uses a mix of lecture, discussion and hands-on-exercises. The workshop is designed for those involved in program and policy development, planning and evaluation who have a basic understanding of logic models or who have a program or policy In mind that needs logic model development  as part of evaluation framework development.

Qualitative Evaluation Design & Analysis

By the end of the workshop participants will be familiar with qualitative data collection methods, approaches to analysis and reporting qualitative findings. Two pieces of software useful for facilitating qualitative research will also be introduced. This workshop uses a mix of lecture, discussion and hands- on-exercises. The workshop is designed for beginner and novice evaluators or those involved in program and policy development, planning and evaluation who are interested in learning about qualitative evidence for use in decision making.

Presenters

Rob Chatwin

Rob has a Masters of Social Work and is a registered social worker in the province of Nova Scotia with over 30 years of experience working in health and human services organizations at the community, regional, provincial and national levels in Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario and Nova Scotia. Rob is a member of the Nova Scotia Association of Social Workers and the Canadian and American Evaluation Societies. Rob is currently the Manager Performance Accountability and Evaluation at the Nova Scotia Health Research Foundation and the President of the Nova Scotia chapter of the Canadian Evaluation Society

Nancy Carter

As Director, Evaluation Services at the Nova Scotia Health Research Foundation, Nancy’s work provides guidance and advice to catalyze evaluation initiatives for Nova Scotia’s health system. Previously, she worked as an evaluation and research consultant in Atlantic Canada. Her theoretical knowledge gained through formal education combined with practical experience as a consultant, has given Nancy considerable expertise in applied social science research methods as well as evaluation-specific processes and tools. Particular areas of interest in evaluation include evaluation theory, evaluation culture, and building evaluation capacity. Nancy is currently the Vice-President of the Nova Scotia chapter of the Canadian Evaluation Society
