The Nova Scotia Chapter of the Canadian Evaluation Society invites you to join us for the half-day workshop: Outcome Mapping: A Hands-on Workshop, with Kay Crinean of Collective Wisdom Solutions.
Outcome Mapping is a participatory evaluation method designed to help complex programs articulate their progress. The approach focuses on changes in the behaviour of people, groups, and organizations with whom a program works directly. Outcome mapping is best suited for complex, socially innovative projects with a high level of diversity among partners and participants.
Participants in this workshop will have the opportunity to learn the basics of Outcome Mapping through a hands-on approach. Upon completion participants will:
- Understand the principles and applicability of Outcome Mapping
- Have explored how it can be used in combination with other evaluation methods
- Have practised the key techniques on current project examples drawn from their own experience

Kay Crinean is the President of Collective Wisdom Solutions (management consultants). She is an experienced management consultant, evaluator, facilitator, social innovator and entrepreneur. She has extensive experience in collaborative and multi-stakeholder ventures, and has created and run two unique multi-stakeholder organizations in Canada and the UK that engaged government, industry, education and community organizations in successfully adapting to technological and economic innovation.
She has experience in using a combination of evaluation methods including Outcome Mapping in the evaluation of complex, multi-stakeholder projects and strategies where the objectives can only be met through the collaboration and influencing of a number of partner organizations. Relevant previous experience includes:
- The Review of Nova Scotia’s Strategy on HIV/ AIDS (March 2014),
- Evaluation of The SchoolsPlus model (for NS Department of Education; 2009-2012); this was a 3-year developmental evaluation,
- Evaluation of The Workplace Skills Enhancement Project (for Immigrant Settlement Association of NS; 2010),
- Evaluation of The Prior Learning Centre’s Programs and Services: Relevance and Potential to Contribute to Workforce Development in Nova Scotia (for the NS Department of Labour and Advanced Education; 2008).
She presented a workshop and a paper on the use of Outcome Mapping at the Canadian Evaluation Society’s National Conference May 13-16, 2012.
