Contribution Analysis is an approach to evaluation, built on theory of change, which demonstrates the desired impact of an intervention. Contribution analysis is especially relevant in settings where there are multiple interventions contributing to a social problem. This applies to most publicly funded programs. This session will discuss the theory of contribution analysis, briefly review the literature, provide a quick review of theory of change, and discuss the steps for using contribution analysis. Exercises involving participants will be included. Representatives from provincial and federal government, as well as the non-profit and education sectors will summarize their experience with the use of contribution analysis giving insights into the benefits and challenges of the approach.
