Employment Opportunity: Evaluation Manager at Research Nova Scotia

Research Nova Scotia (RNS) is a not-for-profit corporation established to enhance research capacity and align research funding with provincial priorities. RNS invests in research that builds and translates knowledge to help ensure a sustainable and prosperous future for Nova Scotia.

Opportunity: RNS is a relatively new organization about to implement its strategic approach to supporting research to meet provincial priorities. The Evaluation Manager will have the opportunity to set the agenda for how RNS measures and evaluates progress on the strategy and on stakeholder expectations.

Reporting: The Evaluation Manager will report to the Chief Operating Officer (COO).

Qualifications: The successful candidate will hold a graduate level degree in a relevant discipline such as business, research-related sciences, social sciences or evaluation, or an acceptable combination of education and experience. Credentialed Evaluator (CE) designation is preferred.

The Evaluation Manager will have excellent analytical skills, pay attention to detail, be effective working independently and as part of a team, and be able to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.

Experience: To be considered for this position, you will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience managing evaluations, monitoring performance, and assessing impact. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of evaluation resources, research methodology, and evaluation theory and practice. Finally, you will have the proven ability to communicate complex information and design, plan and implement evaluation frameworks, logic models, and theory of change models. Previous experience in not-for-profit, post-secondary education and/or government environments will be considered an asset.

Term: This is a permanent, full-time position.

Location: The RNS office is in downtown Halifax, Nova Scotia. Flexibility in terms of work location will be possible during the coronavirus pandemic.

Compensation: Salary range for this position is $77,000 to $88,300, commensurate with experience, plus a generous pension and health benefits package.
