Our friends at CES Newfoundland and Labrador (CES-NL) are hosting an Introduction to Developmental Evaluation workshop on Thursday, April 6, 2023 from 12:30 – 3 pm ADT!
Description: Developmental Evaluation is an evaluation approach that allows social innovators to develop social change initiatives in complex or uncertain environments. In this interactive, introductory-level session, the presenter will introduce developmental evaluation, how it fits into other types of evaluation, and why it’s important.
The first half of the workshop will focus on the different types of evaluation, how they play together, and an exploration of your evaluation personality. The second half will dive deeper into developmental evaluation in practice and its ties to complexity and supporting innovation. You will get the opportunity to explore how developmental evaluation could appear in your work and what tools would best support it. Finally, the presenter will shed light on the characteristics, roles, and capabilities of developmental evaluators and how they act as a tool for innovation.
Facilitator: Miranda Cobb
Miranda has 13 years of experience with developmental evaluation and participatory community-based methods, including multi-year, multi-site systems change initiatives in the non-profit sector in Nova Scotia and the Atlantic Provinces. All of her work is in systems change, social innovation and collaborative leadership with some projects explicitly using collective impact and others implicitly. Miranda is one of the founding members of the Developmental Evaluation Community of Practice. She is a member of the Canadian Evaluation Society (CES) and the Nova Scotia Chapter.
