Call for Nominations for the Nova Scotia Chapter Board of Directors

Deadline: April 27, 2016

Hello CES-NS members,

If you’d like to demonstrate your commitment to the value of the Canadian Evaluation Society – Nova Scotia Chapter and help to shape its future, then becoming involved as a member of the Board is for you!

The board is seeking nominations for two board position (IT/IM Lead & the Professional Development Lead). You may nominate yourself or someone else. If you are nominating someone, please make sure that they are aware and are in agreement. Nominating candidates for office is a valuable service to CES-NS and your thoughtful participation in this process will be greatly appreciated.

Responsibilities and Time Commitment:

Only CES members may serve on the Board. Board positions are for a 2 year term, with the option to continue for a third year. Board members regularly participate in the work of the chapter through attendance at monthly meetings, ongoing email exchange, and participation in specific events.

The Submission Process:

Please email Robert.Chatwin@novascotia.ca, Past President to submit nominations on or before April 27, 2016. Rob will clarify with all nominees the voting process, and will answer any questions you may have.

The Voting Process:

Voting by acclamation (in the event we have no more than 1 nominees), or by ballot (if more than one nominee) occurs at the Annual General Meeting being held May 17, 2016.

The Nova Scotia Chapter of the Canadian Evaluation Society, in collaboration with the Nova Scotia Government Evaluators’ Network, invite you to the participatory day-long symposium: Putting Evaluation Theory into Practice: Strengthening Evaluation Culture, Addressing Challenges and Seizing Opportunities.

Please join us for:

  • Panel presentations and discussions on: Evidence informed decision making in Nova Scotia, with Krista Connell, CEO of the Nova Scotia Health Research Foundation, Graham Steele, former Minister of Finance and Susanna Fuller of the Ivany Commission;  as well as an organizations’ first-hand experiences building evaluation culture
  • Networking
  • Poster presentations
  • Café- style discussions

 Time: 9:00am- 4:15pm Registration starts at 8:30am

 Location: World Trade & Convention Centre-1800 Argyle St., Halifax, NS

 Cost: CES Member: FREE

              Non Member: $50

              Student: $25 with valid student ID

*CES-NS members are still required to register for catering purposes.

Call for Volunteers for CES-NS Board

The Nova Scotia Chapter of the Canadian Evaluation Society is seeking nominations for Treasurer, Membership Chair and IT Chair to hold office for the period of May 2014 to May 2016. Please see the position descriptions here.

The volunteer Board meets once a month and is made up of dedicated members from NGO’s, government and private sectors; some members are experienced evaluators and others are new to the field. If you are interested in offering your name for nomination to the Board or would like more information please contact Janet Ivory at ces.novascotia@gmail.com or at 902 424 2370. Nominations will be accepted until May 22, 2014.
